Ownership

October 2, 2024

It is a privilege helping clients find their dream homes in some of the city’s most iconic neighborhoods. But beyond the popular spots like Broad Ripple or downtown, there are lesser-known areas that offer incredible potential for homebuyers and investors alike.

Chatham Arch

Just northeast of downtown, Chatham Arch is a historic neighborhood that often flies under the radar. Known for its beautifully preserved Victorian homes and quaint, tree-lined streets, this area offers an intimate, close-knit community feel. It is often overshadowed by neighboring hotspots like Mass Ave and Lockerbie Square, but for those who love history, character, and a quieter vibe, Chatham Arch is the perfect escape.

One of my favorite aspects of Chatham Arch is the way many of the homes have been restored with incredible care, maintaining their original charm while being updated for modern living. For buyers looking for historic beauty and a true sense of community, this is it!

Herron-Morton Place

Another hidden gem is Herron-Morton Place, located just north of downtown. This neighborhood boasts a rich history and an array of stately homes, many of which date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Once an exclusive residential area for Indianapolis’ wealthiest families, Herron-Morton has seen a resurgence in recent years, attracting new residents who appreciate its architectural beauty and close proximity to the city center.

What’s exciting about Herron-Morton is its potential for growth. While it retains its historic charm, the neighborhood has been undergoing a transformation with new developments, local businesses, and community revitalization efforts. A must try is Tinker Street Restaurant – ask for their sommelier (she is incredible)!

Fountain Square

While Fountain Square has been gaining popularity, it remains one of the city’s most eclectic and vibrant neighborhoods. Known for its artistic flair, this area is home to local, small businesses and a variety of unique restaurants. What sets Fountain Square apart is its creative energy—whether you are enjoying live music, browsing local artwork, or dining at one of its beloved eateries like Bluebeard, the neighborhood feels like a community with a deep appreciation for the arts.

Despite its increasing popularity, Fountain Square still offers opportunities for real estate investment, with a soaring increase in Carriage Homes. A must try is Sam’s Silver Circle!

Butler-Tarkington

Nestled just west of the bustling Broad Ripple, Butler-Tarkington offers a peaceful alternative without sacrificing access to great dining, shopping, and entertainment. Home to Butler University and an array of stunning historic mansions, this neighborhood combines the serenity of suburban life with the convenience of urban living.

What makes Butler-Tarkington special is its leafy streets, lined with mature trees and a mix of well-maintained homes. Despite its quiet, almost suburban atmosphere, it’s only a short drive from some of the city’s best attractions, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields. A must try is RH Dining Room!
